# Gas & Fees

### Understanding Blockchain Transaction Costs

Blockchain transactions require computational resources from the network.

On BNB Smart Chain, these resources are represented through **gas**, while the actual cost paid for processing a transaction is the **transaction fee**.

A simplified relationship is:

```
Gas Used × Gas Price = Transaction Fee
```

The actual transaction fee depends on the amount of gas consumed and the applicable gas price at the time the transaction is processed.

#### BNB for Network Fees

BNB is the native asset of BNB Smart Chain and is used to pay network transaction fees.

Users should maintain sufficient BNB in the relevant wallet when performing operations that require an on chain transaction.

#### Important

Network fees are separate from the amount being transferred.

For example:

```
Amount Sent + Network Fee = Total Blockchain Cost
```

The exact fee may vary depending on network conditions and transaction complexity.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://arbydex.gitbook.io/arbydex/gas-and-fees.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
