# Preventing Fund Loss

## Simple Practices That Protect Your Assets

Most avoidable wallet losses can be reduced by following a few basic security principles.

#### 1. Protect Your Recovery Phrase

Your Recovery Phrase should remain private and securely stored.

```
Recovery Phrase
       ↓
PRIVATE
       ↓
SECURE
       ↓
BACKED UP
```

#### 2. Protect Your Security PIN

Never share your PIN with anyone.

#### 3. Verify Every Address

Check the complete destination address before confirming an important transaction.

#### 4. Verify the Network

Make sure the sending and receiving networks are compatible.

#### 5. Verify the Asset

Confirm that you are sending the intended token.

#### 6. Verify the Amount

Review the amount before signing or confirming.

#### 7. Check Transaction Details

Do not rush through transaction confirmation.

Take a moment to review the complete transaction.

#### 8. Beware of Fake Support

Scammers may impersonate:

• ARBYDEX support\
• Administrators\
• Community moderators\
• Developers\
• Referral partners

They may ask for your Recovery Phrase, PIN, private key, or request that you connect your wallet to an unknown website.

**Never provide sensitive credentials to anyone.**

#### 9. Use Official Sources

Only access ARBYDEX through official websites, applications, and communication channels.

Be careful with links received through unsolicited messages.

#### 10. Verify On Chain

For supported blockchain transactions, use the Transaction Hash and a compatible blockchain explorer to independently verify the transaction.

## 🚨 Common Security Threats

### Know What to Avoid

#### Phishing

A fraudulent website or message designed to look like an official service.

**Protection:** Always verify the website domain before entering account information.

#### Fake Support

Someone claims to be ARBYDEX support and asks for your Recovery Phrase or PIN.

**Protection:** Never disclose these credentials.

#### Fake Airdrops or Rewards

A message may claim that you have received a reward and ask you to connect your wallet or provide sensitive information.

**Protection:** Verify announcements through official ARBYDEX channels.

#### Malicious Links

A link may lead to a fraudulent website designed to steal wallet credentials or authorize unwanted transactions.

**Protection:** Avoid unknown links and verify the destination before connecting your wallet.

#### Address Manipulation

Malware may attempt to replace a copied wallet address with another address.

**Protection:** Always compare the destination address before confirming.

## 🔎 Security Checklist

Before confirming an important transaction, ask yourself:

```
☐ Is the website or application official?
☐ Is my Recovery Phrase stored safely?
☐ Have I protected my Security PIN?
☐ Is the destination address correct?
☐ Is the asset correct?
☐ Is the network correct?
☐ Is the amount correct?
☐ Have I reviewed the transaction details?
☐ Do I understand what I am confirming?
```

If anything looks unusual, **stop and verify before proceeding.**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://arbydex.gitbook.io/arbydex/security/preventing-fund-loss.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
